Art of Energy Healing, Vol. 1

Author: Susan D Matz

The Art of Energy Healing is a series of nine books that takes the reader through many of the processes involved in Energetic Dynamics. Energetic Dynamics encompass both the individual Human Energy System, like the chakras and Energy Field, along with an explanation of how energy connects and creates both the planet we live on and the Universe we live in.

The series begins with fundamental explanations about the Energy System and the levels of consciousness. Each book adds on information going from technical foundations, to more advanced and in-depth teachings about energy flow patterns, personal growth processes, group dynamics, working with children, working as a healer, Universal principles and individual evolution.

These books will openly talk about God, along with personal responsibility and facing your darker nature. I make a point of saying this, because I have noticed a distinct lack of direct connection between energetic healing practices and God. Much of what is written today is divided between spiritual books and healing books, but the concepts are often kept separated. Spiritual teachings can seem like far-fetched ideologies that do not seem realistic for the average day-to-day problems found in relationships, work, parenting or managing life. And healing literature seems to focus on techniques without defining or explaining the deeper purposes behind healing. Healing is not about curing anything, but rather a journey into understanding the why of everything, and ultimately the why of you. This series connects the spiritual with the practical along with explanations of what healing is really about, and how it affects you on a daily basis.

Everything in life has meaning - everything. It is in learning to understand yourself at a deeper level that helps you to understand life at a deeper level. Your life is your teacher, and this series of books is just one of the many tools that exist in the world to help bring a little more clarity into understanding the lessons and teachings that life has to offer you.

Understanding Dental Health or Healthy Bones and Joints

Understanding Dental Health

Author: Francis G Serio

A User-friendly Manual on the Basics of Dental Health

Looking into your mouth is like looking under the hood of your car. Both are dark and mysterious places. Unfortunately, unlike your car, your mouth did not come with a guide to operation and repair. This book can serve as an "owner's manual", for it was written for those who hope to understand the mouth and how to keep it healthy. It will introduce what is in the mouth and how to take proper care of it.

From its outline of the anatomy of the mouth to its discussions of contemporary dental research and technology, this book offers insight into the processes that determine dental health. It details daily oral hygiene and maintenance aimed at reducing the occurrence of common oral maladies. Also explained is the dentist's role in prevention and treatment, as well as the costs of dental care.

Virtually all persons are affected by dental diseases of some sort. Many dental problems, especially bad breath, gum disease, and cavities, are almost entirely preventable. Whether it is for bleeding gums, cavities, crooked teeth, impacted wisdom teeth, stains, a host of other problems, or just a periodic checkup, nearly everyone will spend time and money at the dentist's office. For those who are concerned about appropriate care of the mouth and the teeth this clearly written book will be useful.

The principles of dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, and select discal innovations in dentistry are cussed and clearly explained. Also, a helpful list of dental schools that provide low-cost care and a list of resources for further information are included.

Although this book is not meant to be comprehensive, it offers the firm foundation forhaving informed discussion with your dentist and for maintaining oral health for a lifetime.

American Indian Food or The Sneeze Free Cat Owner

American Indian Food (Food in American History Series)

Author: Linda Murray Berzok

This, the first, in-depth survey of Native American Indian foodways is an amazing chronicle of both human development over thousands of years and American history after the European invasion. It sheds light not only on this group and their history but on American food culture and history as well. For thousands of years an intimate relationship existed between Native Americans and their food sources. Dependence on nature for subsistence gave rise to a rich spiritual tradition with rituals and feasts marking planting and harvesting seasons. The European invasion forced a radical transformation of the indigenous food habits. Foodways were one of the first layers of culture attacked. Indians were removed from their homelands, forced to cultivate European crops such as wheat and grapes, new animals were introduced, and the bison, a major staple in the Great Plains and West, was wiped out. Today, American Indians are trying to reclaim many of their food traditions. A number of their foodways have become part of the broader American cookbook, as many dishes eaten today were derived from Native American cooking, including cornbread, clam chowder, succotash, grits, and western barbeque.

Library Journal

This first volume in Greenwood's "Food in American History" series explores Native American foodways from prehistory to the arrival of Europeans to modern times, encompassing various regions and tribes. Berzok, a food writer and historian, organizes the chapters thematically rather than chronologically. For instance, Chapter 5 examines the role of food in various religious beliefs and practices, while Chapter 3 explores food preparation, preservation, and storage. Complementing the narrative are a few recipes that describe how the dish was traditionally prepared, as well as a chronology, a glossary, and a selected bibliography. Overall, this highly readable and thorough chronicle will be a welcome addition to public, academic, and high school libraries as it fills a gap in Native American and food history.-Lisa A.
